1967 442 ID question

I found a 1967 442 that I might be interested in as of right now I have only seen photos and the owners description but I have sent him a list of questions. While I am waiting to hear back I have one question, this car has the CS emblems on the rear sides of the roof I think I remember reading somewhere that the 442 did not come with them. I know 67 is hard to prove without documentation so I am looking for clues that it is not. I really want a 66 but if this is a 442 I can be swayed.

Thanks

Good catch and good cause for suspicion.
Either it's not an original 4-4-2, but, a Cutlass Supreme that's been cloned
or it's an original 4-4-2 that has been rebodied with a Cutlass Supreme body.

You may want to take a look at the can of worms I opened up on this subject
a while back in thread in the link below:

I couldn't see the louvers on the hood. Does it have the louvered 442 hood?
Does it have the triple upper rear control arm frame mount holes?
Does it have the rear sway bar? E block 400?

Another item often missed on clones is double fuel lines.

The 67 442 was only available on the CS coupe chassis. That means Hardtop, Sports coupe (aka post car) and vert. They did have C/S emblem but it was on the deck lid. This is a pic from a member whose Dad bought this car new.

If the car comes with it's original protecto plate that will give you the information about the engine and whether it's a 442.

Not if it was built at Freemont. Just a point of clarification. 5 refers to OPTION COLUMN 5, V (when used by some plants) is code for RPO L78 - 442 option. Y is another code that means Deluxe Front and rear belts (RPO A39)

5V is for 442 but not if the car is built in Freemont. Y is for deluxe seat belts.

TV cars don't mean much either. I have owned over 60 Oldsmobiles almost 2/3rds of those were 66-67's. Never seen a true 67 442 with C/S emblems on the C pillar.
