Thanks for the info, poor mans was right on. I was going to use the 425 specs which are the same except as I see it the timing. Hope to help with bog on acceleration. Next vacuum advance or carb rebuild!!!!

Well, you are quite right. I couldn't find it either, just 225, 330, and 425.
The carburetor adjustments just generalize for 2GC and 4GC.
So, since they didn't print the 400 information in the September, '64 manual, where did they print it?

If your running an HEI, those specs won't work. Either way, I would set total timing as close to 34-36 as I could get it and let the initial wind up where ever it winds up. Then limit the total with vacuum to around 50.

Read up on performance timing. You'll be pleasantly surprised that stock engines benefit from additional advance.

To the OP- Is you accelerator pump working fully?

Thanks to all for the info on 400 specs, dwell originally was 19 , set the dwell at 30, new points, condenser, new vacuum advance and new distributor advance kit. Acceleration greatly improved, still a little bog. Rebuilding the 4GS next, as I noticed the accelerator pump leaking a little.
