Ram Air ???

an open air cleaner and this looks like a factory video.

It looks to me like they have just "flipped their lid" like I've seen discussed in these forums. lol

Uh... Ram Air is Poncho terminology I think. (some people are really touchy about those things here)
That is weird, the car has the outside air ducting and they flip the lid over?

Probably did it so when they were filming you could here the noise when the secondaries kicked in and it hit passing gear with the automatic, bwooo-wahhhhhh!!

Definitely different than ram air on a 1971 or 72. Wouldn't this be the same setup for 69 as well?

What a cool video. Where did you get it? I really loved the sound of that BB with the pedal mashed. One thing that I wouldn't want to be doing is a wack of those brake tests from 60 and 70 miles per hour a bunch of times. Polyglas tires back then weren't radials, just bias plys. Definitely going to feel the flat spots that it causes on the rubber. Holy cow, did you see how well controlled the roll was on corners? Those stabilizers and springs really made a difference. Bet they wish anti lock brakes were around back then.

Now I want a time machine so I can go back and buy a couple of those bad boys. Only 515 made? Wonder how many are still surviving? Got any more of these wonderful ads?

Well, Yes and Nope. 69 W cars yep, 69 H/O nope.It is a one year only with a vacum operated flapper door in the [grey] top can.

But please call it OAI [Outside Air Induction] not "ram air"

For trivia buffs, the flapper door and O.A.I. top plate used on the 69 H/O are the same parts as used on the Ford Cobra Jet cars. The vacuum actuator even carries a Ford part number.

I guess I should tell you I'm heavy into a-bodies ( Mr. GTO ) Goats, Icks, no {deletes}...

When I had trouble finding Rear springs for my 442 I eventually went with standard

Var ratio cargo coils and I corners nicely ...

Which brings up a Question. I've heard that the rear on a 442 should sit slightly

lower. The car in the video looks low. Make the rear end push the body more ???

Mine is up slightly but it still works great ...



I really like how it looks without the trim on ...

My 68 sits low in the back too. I put on aluminum heads and intake and it raised the front by an inch more. Now it is really pronounced. So time to get new springs and see if that will level it out some. I had a 69 and it sat a little low in the back as well. I and my friends thought this was the way Olds are supposed to be. Back in the day they were the cars that really HANDLED. LOL

I'm a big fan of progressive ratio cargo coils ...

I ordered a set from a vista cruiser and I really like the way it corners ...

It plants the tires at the drag strip also ...

Make sure you get new spring isolators also. I made a set out of some

nice stiff neoprene and they work nicely ...
