'68 442 Question?

'68 442 Question?
Hey '68 guys and gals! My buddy is just finishing up the restoration on his '68 442 vert. It is a local car that spent its life here on Long Island. Built in the Linden plant, he has the build sheet, born with rear, trans and engine. The car was found in a garage that a tree had fallen on. The rear of the car was crushed pretty badly.
Questions we have are:
1- Does anyone know what color the inside of the convertible roof would be? The car is a triple blue car from the factory. He did find evidence of the car having three different roofs during its previous life. Seems the original roof was a beige on the inside. The frame is blue, so we are thinking that the blue frame against the beige fabric would have looked strange.
2-Anyone know where to find the original blue material for the convertible top?
3-Was there only one blue top offered?
4-Does anyone here possibly have an all original triple blue '68 convertible to help us confirm the top inside color?
Here are some pics as she sits now. I will get more and post if anyone is interested. I will get some before shots if I can find them also!
Thanks to all who may be able to give some insight!

I wish I could help...
D4 is Sapphire Blue with a blue top. 943 is blue interior. I thought all the convertible frames were black. That way they could be installed at Fisher on any A-body. This is the second time in the last year I've seen someone with a 68 convertible frame that was painted the interior color and they thought it was original. Could have been, I just don't know for sure
The steering wheel isn't a 68 and it's painted blue so I wonder how much the interior was tweaked in the past
There was only one Blue top offered in 68
BTW you say you have a build sheet. Is this and original W36 stripe car?
That's a pretty car. My first 68 C/S I got in 78 was Sapphire Blue

Mike, the steering wheel is only a temp. He has the original, but it needs to be restored. As far as the frame, we believe it to be originally that color. When sanding away the color, there was no black to be found. But, that is why I asked the question. Seems odd. We are still trying to figure out if the inside of the roof was also blue, or beige in color? As far as the w36, no it wasn't born with them...but I made sure he did them correctly. He welded the original holes up, and moved the numerals. I'm glad I caught him before paint, because Joe P would have a fit if they ran into the wheel opening, LOL! Thanks for the input!

Very nice car! My top bows are black but, then again so is my top and the interior. Like Mike, I thought all convertible top frames were painted black. It will take someone, or maybe more than one, with a top and interior other than black to tell us the real story.

Yes I believe you're right about that Randy, I assumed they were all black, but we are now not exactly positive.....?
Beautiful original owner 442 you have there Randy!
I also like the green on z's cutlass! Love the video too!

Well, for now, he ordered a blue top that is black on the inside. Still would like to know for sure if it was beige or blue on the inside. Again, the frame was blue when he got the car, and carefully sanding away, no evidence of black.....a mystery if I do say!
