The 1969 442. I've seen pictures of the dash with and without the walnut overlay. I was wondering if when you orderer the 442 the walnut dahs was standard, or was an option. Thanks

Pretty sure the Walnut vinyl overlay was standard in all the Cutlass, 442, and many other models at that time. However it is an overlay, so when restoring it would be possible to remove it or not install it, if you preferred that look. It wouldn't be technically correct, and might lose you points at a car show, but that's about it.

I was under the impression that the overlay was added to the higher end cars only unless otherwise spec'd in an order. Wasn't it part of a trim/appearance group? There were lots of quirky things going on with GM back in those days where you had to have a certain option to get certain trim; or you had to upgrade more than you wanted to get the option. Dunno, I still get confused about this, even with newer cars.
