? about Chassis Coding?
Does any body know what code these are in the attached image? They are on the back driver trunk area
on the chassis. Someone once told me that they marked options and such on chassis after the car was done with production? is this true?

I recoginize the "3667" as being a convertable. To confirm, the frame would be boxed in the appropriate areas.
I can't help with the rest. By the way, nice job on the photo, it clearly shows the numbers. I believe there is another series of numbers near the cowl/door area that should be vin related. Do the numbers in the photo area relate to your vin at all? These are the only two areas I am familiar with that have stampings. I don't know they have any thing to do with options though.

I have just discovered after trying to figure out what one of my frames are that the first #, 7 digits is the part number. I have an old mitchell interchange manual and found my frame to be a 3960733 which is a 68 or 70 F-85. The 2 letter code will tell you the factory code for what it goes under but you will find this only in an assembly manual. I have not figured out the rest yet but will keep you all informed. I will look and see if I can find your # in my manual.

Yours is a 72 frame for cutlass/f-85. If you have a assembly manual, go to the frame ID page and there should be a box with the letter codes. The 3 #'s after the part # possibly could be a julian date but not sure on the rest. Julian date is out, Mine is 401. ???? Yours is 366, Not it either unless it was a leap year. ????
