Engine ID

I think I've determined that the engine in my 70 442 is not original (no numbers match the VIN), but am wondering if there is a way to figure out what kind of vehicle the engine came from.

The head stamp indicates a 1970 455 engine.

On the block pad where the VIN should be is:
LISB
1047

The "LISB" is a much smaller size than the "1047".

The letters and numbers are upside down.

Anyone have any ideas?

It's possible that the engine is a factory replacement. If an engine was defective under warranty, a dealership wouldn't think twice about replacing the engine with another one. This could be the situation here.
