I went through all 5 pages of the Hurst forum and did not find a single post on 73s so I thought I may get a quicker answer here.

I know that the 72 back cars are much more sought after but can someone give me an idea of the value of say a #3-2 condition car?

I don't have pictures but it is a nice looking rust free restored car. White auto trans.

Owner does not know if it is original engine but says he doubts it. How do you identify original engine? I assume that there is a V.I.N. but I don't know where to look. With all of the number stamping going on in the general hobby I also assume there is a corrolation I should check for between the casting date, assembly date and V.I.N. however I don't know where to look for any of these numbers. Maybe this is not so important on a 1973 due to the value?

I could not find anything on the Internet regarding the performance of these cars stock when new. Does anyone have any info such as 1/4 mile e.t. from old hot rod mags?

As you can see I am Olds ignorant.

I like the 73"s , swivel bucket seats cool grill and new styling. 15.37 at 99.35 mph in a 1320 ft I would think price wise they are going to be in the 7 to 12 range yes thats a big swing but from what I have seen on line.
depends how fast they want to sell it or not have seen some on ebay for more but seem to keep showing up . They were rated at 245 hp @ 4800rpm 360lbs-ft @ 2400rpm they came with a 1" front swaybar and a .94" bar in the rear .

The quarter mile figures would depend on whether it has the W45 or the W46 (for non-AC cars) and what rear gear ratios. No doubt the that from '73 on, the performance figures tail off. And so do the values. I like the '73-'75 H/Os, but they are not hot performance cars as much as prior years. Hard to find in good condition, as the bodies are more prone to rust damage. And being more expensive to restore, it has to be in pretty good condition to begin with to be worth much. Even so, they still don't bring much. I think they are relatively undervalued. If you don't insist on having a perfect one, you can buy one without breaking the bank. But for value, condition is everything especially with these years.

Thats true on the w-45 had air with 3:08 's w-46 was a non air and 3:23 . you could add track temp , air temp , driver, tires in on that too . I just took it from a road test . They also only made 1097 dont know the break down from w-45 or W-46 but I would think most were w-45 dont you think Kurt ? . You wont se to many at A&W getting root beer thats for sure.

Haven't seen a breakdown, but I'd expect to find the the vast majority to be W45s. Note that the way Olds offered it (W45 being the primary configuration), I think Olds was expecting it to be that way.

www.73-77olds.com caters to these years Cutlass/442/Hurst. Nowhere near active as here though.

Yep, fortunately or unfortunately, they don't seem to bring the larger $$'s, and I'd agree with Kurt, probably undervalued by the general car public. I personally know of a great restored one that sold for $15k last year.. I would have thought about trying to get it if I had the room for it. It's a buyers market so I think mid teens for a nice restored example.

Scroll through the pictures and you'll see the vin on a 1971 350 motor. Yours will be in the same place, below and to the left of the drivers side forwardmost spark plug.




Then if it has an automatic transmission there should be a vin number stamped in that too. The following link has pictures of that, TH350 is orange and the TH400 is aluminum in the photos:

The prices on these cars are all over the place recently from a couple hundred for parts cars to first class restored of super clean originals 10 - 15k.
