X2 on Wild About Cars. There's tons of info at that site and it's yours just by going to the site.

F70X14 red stripe wide oval tires were standard equipment on the '69 4-4-2. There was an assortment of other types and kinds of tires that were also available that included blackwall, whitewall and white raised letter options. See manual section 10, pages 100 and 101 of your '69 assembly manual. You have to pick through it a bit to understand what they are saying on those pages but they lay out all the different tire options for the '69 4-4-2.

Thanks for the responces guys, I was just making sure that the red lines where correct for my car.Because on wild about cars, as randy said you have to pick thru it.... meaning a little tuff to completly understand. LOL I am putting original SS1 wheels back on my car, And trying to decide between red line tires or white letter goodyears. I wasn't sure which tires would make the car look best. I was thinking the red lines because the car is a silver/charcoal color with black hood panels, white and black along the rockers with a red accent pin stripe along the top. What do you guys think?? Can any one do photo shop if I post a picture, one with red lines and one with goodyear white letters. If so thanks in advance Michael

I was at a car show a couple of weeks ago, and a guy there had a silver '69 Charger with redlines...they really looked good with the silver paint (they were Diamondback tires), set it off real nice.

Thanks, Thats what I was thinking!! The red would accent the color better. Instead of the normal white letters. Now where to find them for a reasonable price!!! LOL

I'm a bit prejudiced on the thought, but redlines do it for me!

Got my new wheels and tires

I wanted to show you guys an update on the wheels I bought from McWheels, They are original SS1's that he rehooped. I do know they don't have the correct #'s on them, But I think the look better then the repops. I think he did a awsome job and they look great and his price was fair. I would recomend him if your looking for wheels. I think they really set the car off with the 225-70-14 red line tires. I also got a real nice original SS1 for my spare from him. I was able to locate an original red line F-70-14 red line spare out of a 1969 Cutlass. Whats the chances of that!!! LOL What do you think witch looks better The Torc Thrust or the SS1's ?? After this all thats left to make my car all original except for the paint, is to install the original distributor in the next week or so. Michael images/20/img2239my.jpg/][/URL]

That's a tough call. The purist in me says SSI, but I've never seen many cars that Torq-Thrusts didn't look good on.

If you have both sets, you can swap 'em out depending on yer mood. SSI/redlines for an original-class show, T/T for a cruise night.

I have a buddy with a 64 TriPower Grand Prix who does that with his aircleaner. Big round dual-snout high-$$ factory job for an original-class show, and original 1960s chrome Badgers for cruise nights. 'Course it only takes him about ten minutes to change that out.

They look superb! Just to confirm, the wheels are 14 x 6, yes? I agree that they look better than the repops. In fact, I noticed that before I read that you thought so, and was going to comment on that too. Problem is that the repops look "too good" and are too obvious. They just don't look like originals.
Same goes for most of the paint jobs today. Sure, they "look great", but they look far from original. In cases like that, "better" is not better as far as I'm concerned.

Those look great! Those redlines / SS1 really make that car stand up!

McWheels also did my original SS1 disc brake wheels, and I would recommend him to anyone. I am going to send him my 69 HO wheels this spring to have rechromed rather than buy a repop set.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

red lines

THANK YOU GUYS !! For all the great comments on my car. That makes me feel good about my choices. I am really pleased with the way it's turning out. Yes the wheels are 14x6 with 225/70/14 Goodyear tires. I'll keep you posted on the distributor swap. Thanks again Michael
