There are two converts on ebay today. 15 to 20 grand. But lots of variables like condition, originality, quality of restoration, market, what just sold on BJ recently, etc. Your hardtop looks real nice and in good original condition. Good luck. Make lots of pictures where ever you post it, pictures help it sell.

I'd guess $18-22k. Looks very nice. I wish I had the cash...

Thanks for the responses, actually I am considering buying this car from a private party, it is not mine.....yet. Think $17,000 would be a good deal?

Man, I would hate to know someone spent 17k on something partly because of my recommendation. I have NEVER spent that much on a vehicle in my life. Way out of my league, so I am going to refrain from saying yes or no. But, that is a very clean car and if you feel you would be happy with it and the seller will sell for that price then it is the right price. Purely as an investment, I couldn't say.....

I won't hold you accountable. LOL
Since I really have just started looking for a 442 I am trying to get a pulse on the values so I figured this is a good spot to get some info. Thanks again. I am going to check it out in person and will see if it is as advertised.

I've looked around a bit on e-Bay and other Olds sites just for fun, and I think if you look at the car in person and don't find many flaws (doesn't seem to be too many looking at the pix), $17k is a pretty good deal! Especially considering the prices on 442.com, e-Bay, and other classic car sites. A dealer would want $22k or more.

I would have to agree- If the car is as nice in person as what I see here, that is a great deal.

vin starts with 344879, should the cowl tad read 3687 or something else? vin checks out. trans TH-400. C heads what number should be on the block? Also in the pic it appears the rear bumper does not have exhaust cutout and shouldn't it have staineless trim at bottom of trunk lid. going tomorrow morning to look what elso should I investigate that may be missing, are the rear bumpers hard to find with the exhaust cut outs?

Angry

well if it seems to good to be true it usually is:

Made the 3 hour track to check out the 442. It's definately a 10 footer. Poor paint job, orange peel, did not paint in the trunk or door jambs(why bother) chrome trim pitted, missing chrome around trunk, wrong bumper, trunk good and solid, quarters were filled with body filler and paint was already cracking the paint, too much work for the money, I'm not interested in getting that involved in restoring. Interior except carpet was all original and pretty good. Motor and trans number matching.
