My 1970 W-30 convt 4 speed restoration
I just joined this forum and have recently started the restoration of my 1970 w-30 convt 4 speed. I have owned it for over 30 years and finally decided it was time to do the car. The car is in Colorado at a shop levelonerestoration.com. I look forward to all of your help on the project. It is very well documented and if you go to the site will see pictures when it was new in 1970. I also have about 40 other original documents including the Calif blue and gold license plate I got in 1978, 1970 w30. The car was ordered with the w-27 too.
I also have a 1971 w-30 convertible 4 speed that is my beater. Really nice car but will never be restored because I need one I can really enjoy. It is a m-22 car. I used to have a matching x vin 4 speed 1972 convertible too but sold it about 10 years ago. Should have kept that one. Nice meeting you all and I look forward to being a good member of the forum. very cool, looks like you are already down the road with the restoration. I'm nearing the end of a restoration on my car - man what a trip - I still have some detail questions you could probably help answer for me as you have owned the car so long. I may be able to help in return too as I have gone through a lot with this car - but there are folks on this board with way more knowledge than I have that will be of great assistance to you.

thanks for the warm welcome
My 1971 w-30 convt 4 speed is matador red with triple white. Love the car but it is too nice to restore and too bad to show. I would be glad to help all of you too. I have had many Oldsmobiles too many to list and some really rare ones too. I can post the picture of the 1970 and 1971. If you go to Levelonerestoration.com you can see the 1970. It is now all in primer all body work finished. I have a NOS Ram Air hood for the car but the restoration shop doesn't like the fit so I am taking another hood out in a few weeks. I was able to get all NOS parts 20+ years ago but still need a few things.

Burnished gold with black stripes white top and white interior. I am doing the car as delivered because I have all the documentation and history. The original owner actually ordered it side strip delete and wheel delete so he could put on the American slotted wheels. It was delivered with side stripes so he kept the car with the black stripes. The dealer also had previously built a hardtop car by mistake that the original owner refused because he had ordered a convertible.

Great stuff Lee! I've owned my W-30 since 1975, it's great to have a car this long- and still lovin' it!
My car too, was originally a stripe-delete car. Welcome to the site, keep us posted regarding your beauty...!

When I use the term beater I don't mean that the car is beat. It is a great car! I have enjoyed driving it for years and before that my 1972 w-30 convt 4 speed was my beater. I drove that car for years kept it nice but never even put the stripes back on it so I could take it to the store and not worry. It was one of 33 4 speeds but in the case of our oldsmobiles rare doesnt make them crazy valuable. It would probably be worth six digits today but I don't regret selling it because the next owner did a nice job on the car. My 1970 was always meant to be restored and kept and will always be my favorite w-30 among the dozens I have owned.

Thanks, there are some private registries with many of the cars already documented. I started one almost 20 years ago. It is a method to keep track of the legit cars as there are many more now that when produced and it has a significant impact on the real w-30 cars.
