71 Ignition switch

Would anybody know if there is any adjustment with the bolts that attach the ingnition switch to the column. I notice that I can still turn on the accessory when the key is out.

Thanks Dave

Sounds like the lock cylinder has wear. If ignition switch starts the car fine, and when turned off nothing is on, and key is at the locked postion and you can pull the key out. The ignition switch is fine and doesn't need adjustment, but you can turn the lock cylinder with out the key. Than it is the lock cylinder.

Thanks for the reply, I just got done installing a new lock set in the entire car. Yesteday was the fisrt time that I had power on the harness since the restoration and had a few other larger problems (BLOWER MOTOR NOT WORKING) to trace out than the key issue. I finally figured out that the new high speed relay was defective. I was hoping that this issue was just an adjustment to the ignition switch.

I would say the lock cylinder is ok since it is new. Sounds like something else is wrong. Does your steering wheel lock after you take the key out. It might not put together right.
