MPG estimate

Anyone have a good estimate on what MPG a 1968 442 will get on the highway? Trying to figure out how much it's going to cost to drive it back to NY.

Depends on the carb, gears, and timing.
2.56 gear, auto trans, and a semi lean carb should get you 18

3.42 gears, 4-speed. It's a stock set-up. Slighly lower compression rate--about 9.8:1.

On the power tour we were averaging around 10mpg with a 455 buick running A high 2 diff and a th400. I don't imagine that olds would bee too far off that. Some interstate some highway and a fair amount of intown and flat out parkinglot with a smattering of play in the mix. Not great but not bad considdering the grin factor.

Guess I'll be stopping for gas alot. I just hope I don't run out on one of those stretches where there's absolutely nothing for miles and miles.

I get 10 miles per hour in mine on the highway. The culprit is the 4.3 rearend 3500 rpm @ 65mph. I would estimate you @ 14-16 highway.

With fun factor figured in 20 grins per mile. MPG doesn't matter
