Always wondered why Oldsmobile did not install their Aurora V8 engine in one of their smaller cars with all of the nice performance upgrades. Especially since Oldsmobile was the only division with it's own engine at the time.

I've seen pics of that car before. Why didn't Olds put the Aurora V8 into a Alero coupe as the 442? So many things that should have been done differently...

Seems that Oldsmobile always had the worst advertising and marketing people. I believe if John Beltz had not gotten ill that he would had kept Oldsmobile in the number three spot in sales, which was always his goal. Nice to know that he obtained that position for Oldsmobile prior to his passing and his plans kept it that way for another 15-years. With the suppose plan to make him head of GM, the Oldsmobile 4-valve per cylinder engine would had been put into production on the 455, then the 350.

Olds did do an Alero SVO with a 4.0 (4.6??) - one only in the 1999 time frame... I can't find the photos I took at the time... I did however find the photos of the Street Rod Oldsmobile built (or had built) with the 4.0...

Very cool!

I always thought it would be neat to use the Aurora V8 in an old classic.
