I was excited about possibly buying a '72 W-30 that I knew of near Erie PA that was put up for sale recently, but after a friend looked at it, the body was found to be fairly rotted.

The automatic W-30 was completely stock with a dual-gate shifter, rally gauges, 3.42 posi, power steering & brakes, AM/FM stereo, tape deck, and a tilt steering wheel.

Unfortunately, the seller needed more than what I offered so I will keep an eye out for another one of the last true W-machines. Always wanted one after reading a car magazine article back in late 1972 and seeing pictures of a brand new W-30 test driven through flooded New Jersey streets after hurricane Agnes drenched the area in June that year.

I am fairly new to this site but a long time Olds 442 owner. My dad bought my 72 442 W30 convertible in 1979. Car was an early production with build date 2nd week of September 1971. Fairly loaded with power trunk release, cruise control, cruise control, 4 way power drivers seat, 8 track player and more. One of 80 built with an automatic trans. I bought it off my parents in about 1986 when my dad bought a 72 442 W30 4 speed convertible (1 of 33 produced) and has been owned by my brother for at least 25 years. We both have our GM documentation as both cars were built in Lansing and imported into Canada. My other brother has a 1968 442 he bought the original owner. It's Olds in the family!

Welcome Mr Sutton. We met at the Langley car show this summer.

Please start a thread in the Newbie section and post some pics of your car and those of your family.

Would be great to see photos of the cars. Seems fortune came to your family three times and all had the foresight to keep them all these years.

It unfortunately doesn't work, but may be as simple as a fuse change. (winter project).
