.... or that they are adding a Band-Aid to fix a problem elsewhere. Sort of like replacing a starter or battery when the real problem is an oxidized cable. It may work better, but it doesn't mean you fixed the problem.

I agree!!!
When I worked in a rad shop back in the early 80's after school and on Saturdays the majority of rads that came in were 2 row even with air that we re-cored.
You could opt for a 3 row heavy duty but factory were 2 row.
The aftermarket used more tubes along with smaller but more fins/inch
Motorhomes and hotrod guys were the exception wanting the 4 row.

I also believe that the 2 row 1" aluminum core rads are just as good as the 3 row copper back in the day combined with a high flow stat and aluminum water pump for the weekend cruiser/daily driver.

Good to know. A new 3 row is on my list, now If only I could find a screaming deal on a 3 core radiator that would fit, that would be awesome.

My el-cheapo temp gauge did reach 225* once, sitting in a parking lot while I was talking to someone on a 90* day for about 15 minutes. Not that that is worrysome, but replacing it is in order.

I have a good 3 row copper rad that I took out of my 76, used 3 summers. It has the heater hose connection on the tank above the trans cooler lines which was used prior to changing my water pump to the dual pipes.
Shipping shouldn't be terribly expensive I wouldn't think, I had a Be Cool rad shipped up to Canada but I don't know what the shipping cost was.
You can PM me if your are interested.

Installed my $59 radiator this weekend and couldn't be happier. My car is running st 185d using a 180d high flow thermostat and I haven't even installed the clutch fan yet. Prepping for my upgraded motor install this winter. The rad fit great but sat a little high so I put spacers under the new 4 core top plate.

Good news, I also installed a spacer under the top plate, in my case it was the height of the new perches that caused the need for the spacer. Either way a good deal for $60.

X2 for the perches. For those who don't want to weld the perches I drilled the existing perch welds out with a 1/4" bit and popped riveted (SS) the new ones in to maintain exact same placement.

Did anyone here buy one and end up not using it, and maybe like to sell it?
