For a 69 to be a 442 the VIN has to start with 344, the "44" designates it to be a 442. If the VIN does not start with 344 it is NOT a 442. A 69 442 would have a 400(396026-G) motor. To check if the #'s match there is a flat area below the alternator on the block facing the left and it will have a stamping on it. It should read something like 39Mxxxxxx, the 3 is Olds, 9 is 1969, M is Lansing assembly plant, and the last 6 digits should be the same as the last 6 digits in your VIN for matching #'s. Good luck and I hope this helps.
