Eric, she's not running yet. Decided to do a frame off and have the block sent to a different machine shop. My neighbor had some issues with his block and I wasn't comfortable. It's going to a hi performance shop in about two weeks. Frame is painted, now working on the suspension and getting parts for the rear end together.

Do you include the 'whale oil' posi additive if someone buys a R+P and Posi unit as a package??

EDIT: Hocus Pick! I just went back and looked at the thread title. These are for O 12bolts. Mine was corporate 10 bolt. I feel silly now...

Allan tells me that you do great work!

What's the difference between Factory and Aftermarket? Sometime in the sort-of future i'd be looking for a Posi to replace my 2.73 peg-leg in the rear.

Any suggestions? Not sure if I'd like to keep the gear ratio the same. I'm still in the debating stage..

posi units

Factory - units are always cone type and normally made to do regular driving as this was factory equipment and always had a compromise between performance and longevity in the wear department.

Aftermarket - usually finds the weak spots and improves in that area and gives you more preload and grip Plus the material is better design parts better for better strength to handle the torque and horsepower to the ground.

NEW unit also come with manufactures 1 year warranty from defects.

IF you are 12 bolt olds and you are keeping the stock 2.78 (2.73) we do make units for it. There is sometimes a wait time for the building of them. I have 3 being made right now and with the out look of gas being 5.00 a gallon I am looking to make more. They are selling well.

If you have a 2.78(2.73) Pontiac Buick Oldsmobile 8.2 2series are not available aftermarket - we will need to find a 2 series factory unit.... we have done one BUT again it will take more money as there was alot of machining to the unit we needed to use to make it work.

Most of the time if your willing to pay the large chunk of money... I can usually figure iout a unit to work....BUT you the customer have to weigh that out how badly to really need to have it. lol.

MY JOB IS TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT A REASONABLE WAY TO GET POSI IN TO YOUR RIDE...WITH OUT PAYING A ARM AND LEG.

IF you think your muscle car posi unit are expensive you really need to check out the imports they pay 1500-3000 for posi unit....!!!! CRAZY!!!

i did a 370 Z (or something like that) and the total cost for 4.09 gears posi and bearing (parts alone ) were $2750.00 bearing kit was 550.00 woof! Everything came from nippon Japan.... so there was shipping on top of that. GOD!

Any way always ask brian or I will do our best to always help you out with any questions.

Good Seller

Posi carrier & parts arrived in Calgary today for the Type O rear end in my gold 1969 442.

Parts were fairly priced, well packaged & shipped at cost. Seller is reliable & communicative. I recommend Jim Mitschke to other board members.

The parts will be installed in April. I will post a burnout pic soon after.

I second that opinion of Jim's work. He has reconditioned an original 2 series posi for me and I also bought one of his new Eaton 3 series. Both were delivered on time and on budget.

Jim I have a few questions:

1) What manufacturer for the clutch pack and "S" spring? USA made?

2) What lb. rating for "S" spring?

3) Are any of the parts, pinion/side gears, case, pin, etc. checked for cracks or fractures? Visual or mag. ?

I have three (3) 70' "O" type rears with the 3.23 ratio, but non-posi., (open) that came out of Rally 350 s that I stripped for parts. Before I list them for sale I may want to buy three reconditioned pois. units from you and install them. It may make them more "attractive" to sell and bring more $$$.

thanks for any consideration you may get these questions,
dave b.

The posi units are modified 8.8 Ford units, just like what SuperCars and other vendors sell, but better price. The clutches are a composite material, and the spring is 300lb.
The other units are Yukon or Eaton, and also started out as an 8.8 unit. These have the 4 springs and plates, and have composite clutch of a different material. Also a good unit.
For a better, more aggressive application, get the original style knurled steel clutches, and tune the unit.

His reconditioned units are the Ford units. Not the O-axle 671 units.
