Hello to everyone. Glad to join a group of folks with interests in Oldsmobiles. I currently own a 1984 98 Regency coupe. Black on black with a Burgundy leather interior. This particular model is of importance to me as 27 years ago I purchased a similar coupe new from Merry Oldsmobile in Nassau County Long Island. The current coupe is in very good condition. The interior is untouched. Over the past several months I have made the following upgrades;


Removed the catalytic converter & installed new FlowMaster duel exhaust (let out just behind the rear wheels)

Tinted side & rear windows

Installed projection halogen head-lights

New color matched floor mats

New brake rotors, calipers, wheel bearings, & brake hoses

New front coil spring isolators

New headliner

New sun-visors w/illuminated vanity mirrors

New BFGoodrich redwall radials 15/70/235 (The ride of the car is totally different with new rubber)

15" Oldsmobile SS-II rally wheels

New air adjustable rear shocks

New rear coil springs & isolators

New front Edelbrock Performer gas shocks

New rear bumper fillers

New door weather striping

New AM-FM Stereo (retro-styled to match original radio appearance) ● 240 Watts, USB & MP3 input, XM compatible, CD changer compatible, 4 new speakers

Recharged AC

Flushed out cooling system & changed the oil

I think in pic 3 it could pass for Alfreds version of an elegant Batmobile!! Very interesting color combo and redline tires.

I didn't think those SS111s would fit a Regency. I had an 83 Regency Brougham and tried that trick, but my suspension was the HD and wouldn't accept those wheels. Had to stick with the stock steelies and Wire spoke covers.

Allan R. Right you are. The largest bolt pattern SSIII were/are produced in is 4.75". All 98s came with 5 on 5" bolt patterns. I was hell bent on getting these wheels on the car. So after a little research I came upon a solution. I learned that 88-92 Camaros with the 1LE performance package had the same front rotors as the Olds, but with a 4.75. As for the rears, I took a short cut & had the axle flanges redrilled. This car also has a non-stock posi rear.

How creative. I guess I just didn't have the determination to follow through back then. When I first looked at this thread, I thought maybe you'd found some adapters that worked on the stock hub. Your results are stunning. My compliments on a beautiful car and creative approach to getting it there.

Just so I get it right, this mod doesn't affect stopping ability because the rotors are still the original size and caliper would be stock?

Allan, Yes, the rotors are the same size, just a 4.75 bolt pattern. And the calipers are oem.

I think I see a 'black' theme to your cars! You obviously love them and care for them tremendously. That Lemans was a frame off? It looks immaculate and BTW I love the wheel / tire choice. Are those 225 or 235's? Looks like a 70 series sidewall. The 'stance' from headon is roadhugging.

Oh, I just noticed the 3 gauges mounted on the hood. You really are CREATIVE!!
