Here's the problem...
The '62 shop manual isn't a full manual - it is only a supplement to the '61 manual. The '62 manual only shows things are different from '61. If things are the same as in '61 (like the trans adjustment) it will only appear in the '61 manual. You need to buy a '61 manual, also.
And, there was a late change in the '62 adjustment procedure. It is only found in one of the '62 Service Guild issues. It is a short acticle which I can post on this site, but you'll need the '61 manual for it to make any sense.
