She's old enough to be my mother.
Maybe old enough to be some guys on here's grandmother.

A good looking woman for the 70's when large breasts weren't as common as today.
Hurst was wise and understood that sex does sell.

Aces-
If she is old enough to be my mother, she is sure as heck to be old enough to be your grandmother.

I met her in Lansing at the 100th Anniversary. She was walking between the parade cars and stopped by a Hurst/Olds in front of me. It had a white interior and the owner asked her to sign his visor. After she did she lokked in mine and saw my Hurst Dual Gate and asked if I wanted her to sign the visor. I said I would like her to sign my entry card instead. She did. She was a very nice lady. I heard she was the sister of Doc Watson but don't know if this is true.

I had lunch with her about 6 years ago at a trade show I was at. She still looked great then. She had some wild stories about some wild times she had. I found her to be very sociable.

I used to work with Linda back in the early 80's when I was employed by Hurst and she is just an all round super sweet lady. She did her job well but is also a very personable, caring person. I worked many a racing event with her when Hurst attended those events and I even did a show in Canada with her. I purchased the parade/promo 79 Hurst Olds from Hurst in '81 which is shown in one of Bil's photos (the one with the three Hurstetts on it) and kept that car until '89. It's the only white/gold 79 HO with gold anodized Hurst T-tops and was and still is a great car. Hurst had me bring my 79 to the '82 Summer Nationals in Englishtown and it was parked in the Hurst area next to the 83 HO prototype. I believe before the final round of racing was run, there was a group of cars that drove down the track and I got to drive my 79 HO with Linda sitting on the roof. My girlfriend (now wife of 27 years) was also along for the ride. We all had a good time doing that and LInda was a lot of fun. In 2004 I had the opportunity to restore my old 79 HO for the current owner and it was featured in Hemmings Muscle Machines in a December 2006 issue. A friend of mine was headed to a car show in York, PA in 2009 and asked me for one of the photos from that article so I gave him the cover photo. He ran into LInda at the show, called me on his cell and handed the phone to Linda. We had a nice chat for a few minutes and she remembered who I was. She signed the cover photo for me. Pretty cool.
Photo 21 in Bil's pictures shows Linda at a show and there are 2 Hurst guys in the background. The one on the left was my former boss, Dave Grob and on the right is another former co-worker, Mike Hicks. Two great people and it was fun working with them. As an FYI, Dave was the person who was responsible for the Lightening Rod Shifter. I rember sitting in his office as he brain stormed about how cool it would be to have multiple sticks in the car, as if it had a Lenco in the car. And so it happened. Those were fun days.

Just upload anything you guys ever want to www.2shared.com for free. 2GB limit IIRC.

Then you can post the DL link here for others.
Simplest , fastest method to share files IMO.

As for Linda, you can find just about any picture of her in a wet T-shirt or otherwise
via a Google images search, and you disable the "Safesearch" at the top.

Linda Vaughn aka Miss Hurst (shifters) 60's, 70's & 80's pretty much their "mascot" (sex symbol) so to say. A sales technique to gain popularity and it worked. They targeted all forms of racing just like the factories that produced the cars that ran the races, i.e. Indy, Stock Car, Drags, etc. However Hurst is the best shifter out there especially with their warranties that is still in effect to this day. You got a problem with a Hurst shifter 4 sp., dual gate, lightning rods, etc. send it to them and they will refurbish it for a fee...

http://www.hurst-shifters.com/c.7230...r_rebuild.html

"$75 additional charge to re-chrome stick
• Shipping charges – $10.50 (UPS Ground shipment. Extra charges apply to shipments outside the continental U.S.A.)
• The charges above cover inspection and replacement of worn parts. Damaged, modified, missing or unusable components are extra. Excessively rusted or damaged shifters may not be rebuild-able. Not responsible for parts that break during dis-assembly. For shifter rebuild service, fill out the downloaded form, fax the form to Hurst to request an RMA number, you will be notified of the RMA number. Be sure to write the RMA number on the address label, then send your shifter with a note describing any problems you may be encountering to:

No doubt!! LOL There should be an exam prior to admission, with her as one of the top questions! Just kidding, but no really she is an icon to the industry as a whole not just one specific make. However this is an Oldsmobile specific website and she IS and always will be part of Oldsmobile heritage, maybe not as important to the specific cause as the late and great Helen Early, but none the less she (Linda Vaughn) was a HOTTIE back in the day. And don't even ask about who is Helen Early, coltsneckbob until you have read one of her books that she toiled over a ton of data and interviews to gather and compile crucial info to author novels for US all and not to mention her own first hand experience with Oldsmobile as a dedicated employee and enthusiast all in one. I suppose this would/should be another thread entirely in itself. But those that may be too young to remember will be the ones keeping the Oldsmobile tradition and knowledge going long after were gone, so lets educate as much as possible when possible.
