Hi Gail; I'll give you a defination of the i.d. plate located on the left door pilar.1957-58- prefix to this number are used to identify, first the model year.The next is a letter indicating the series or engine used.1957-58...7,8,or 9. 7 means88 series. 8 means super 88 series and 9 means98 series. 7,8, or9 also indicates that the engine is a 371 cid v8.
