carfax for 1966 model?

Hello, I do not have a carfax subscription any longer.. I let mine expire because I predominantly buy older cars and the serial numbers I needed to look up were too short to register on a carfax search. Can anyone tell me how to do a carfax or similar report on a 1966 Olds with a thirteen digit serial number?

many thanks
peg

I think you'll be out of luck. I don't believe carfax searches go back earlier than the early 1980s.

I don't think there's anything similar to carfax, either, that you could use to search on the history of your car. We'd all love such a thing, and people on here are constantly discussing and lamenting our collective inability to do much in the area of tracing the history of our cars.

I know it's hard for younger people to believe, but there was actually a time BEFORE the internet.

Information like registrations and such were actually recorded on this stuff called paper. Virtually none of that info is available electronically and CarFax is restricted to vehicles with 17 digit VINs.

Not gonna happen.

You're restoring a '69 H/O? You know, there's a rule that you can't own, let alone restore, a car that was built before you were alive.

Well this is a problem. Both of my cars, my dd and my Oldsmobile are older than me.

That's quite all right. I actually think we would all benefit from getting involved with cars older than we are because, along the way, we would get a chance to know about a different, less familiar era.
