To be honest, I was surprised to find that I had gotten a 74 F block. I didn't even check to verify it was a 455. I just loaded the motor and drove home with it. I'm not one to kick a gift horse in the mouth.
Easiest way to spot a fake F block, is to look at the driver's side, where the starter bolts on. Directly aft of the starter brace tab, 3" or so, is a threaded hole, either 7/16", or 1/2" with a round machine mark about 1 1/2" diameter. Fa block does not have this hole, but F block does. It's something you just can't fake, lol.
