Now, if the OP meant a '55 Olds trans, or transmission, I would have suggested something like the following:
Notice that it uses a different bell housing that turns the trans about 25° to the left. This is so the side cover can clear the trans hump in the '54 to '56 cars. The "Slant Pan" IDs it as a '54 to '56 Hydro.
